About Nelly's Grocery and Wine
Located at 630 Indian St Unit A, Savannah, GA 31401, Nelly's Grocery and Wine operates as an asian grocery store serving Savannah in Georgia. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Asian grocery stores and supermarkets stock ingredients, snacks and household goods that general American supermarkets often do not carry, organized by category rather than by country of origin in most stores. Produce and live or fresh seafood sections are usually at the back or side of the store, and weekend mornings bring the largest crowds and freshest restock. Many larger Asian supermarkets include a hot deli or food court counter selling prepared meals by the pound or as fixed plates, useful for a quick lunch while shopping. Labels are frequently bilingual or untranslated, so store staff can usually help locate a specific ingredient if you ask. Cash, cards and mobile pay are all commonly accepted at larger chains; smaller specialty shops may be cash-preferred.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 8:30 am–8 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (912) 254-5058. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, nellysgrocery.com.
Customers rate it 4.9 out of 5 on Google across 29 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded asian grocery stores in Savannah.
Savannah is in Georgia, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Savannah follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

This is such a lovely store! And the owner is extremely nice and bubbly. Please stop by and support Nellys. There is a variety of cultural items in stock. This place is truly a treasure and is accessible to all.

The store itself is beautiful, and I’m genuinely happy to see Savannah’s first Black-owned grocery store open. That’s something worth celebrating. But I left feeling disappointed. It didn’t feel like a grocery store created with working-class Black families in mind. It’s located in an area that many Black residents don’t regularly shop, and the overall atmosphere felt geared more toward SCAD students, tourists, and affluent downtown customers. One thing that really stood out was the lack of prices. I’ve always heard the saying, “If you have to ask the price, you can’t afford it,” and that’s honestly how it felt walking through the store. Whether that’s the intention or not, it made the shopping experience feel less accessible.I’m not saying a Black-owned business has to cater only to Black people. It absolutely doesn’t. But I was hoping Savannah’s first Black-owned grocery store would also feel welcoming and attainable for working-class families too. I truly hope the business succeeds because representation matters. I just wish it felt more connected to the broader community that was excited to support it.

Awesome experience! We were welcomed as we ended the store. There is a lot of natural light which speaks to the intentionally of the store. Items were clearly labeled. The products supported every dietary need. The customer care was excellent. Nelly communicated with such passion & detail. We sampled the fresh cold pressed juices. They were refreshing & delicious. We brought several home. This is a definite MUST STOP.

What an incredible addition to Savannah! Nelly’s Grocery & Wine is a beautiful, thoughtfully designed market that offers much more than groceries. From fresh produce to specialty foods and unique products from small businesses, every shelf has something worth discovering. You can tell the owners genuinely care about quality, community, and creating a welcoming shopping experience. It’s refreshing to see a business that intentionally supports other small businesses while providing a great place for neighbors to shop. Congratulations on your Grand Opening! I highly recommend stopping by, whether you’re looking for fresh ingredients, unique snacks, or just want to support a locally owned, Black-owned business that’s making a positive impact in downtown Savannah. Wishing the Nelly’s team continued success!
